Recipes for Knee Pain: Cabbage Rolls

Method

  1. Remove the stem of the cabbage and steam for 10 to 15 minutes or until the leaves are pliable but still firm to the touch.
  2. Heat the oil in a large saucepan over medium-high heat and saute the peas, carrots, mushrooms, spring onions and ginger for 5 minutes.
  3. Add the pureed chickpeas, cumin and turmeric and continue cooking for an additional 2-3 minutes, stirring constantly.
  4. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Remove from the heat and add the rice. Mix well.
  6. Fill up this mixture in the steamed cabbage leaves, roll them and fix the rolls with a toothpick.
  7. Serve hot with any sauce.

Ingredients
  • ½ cup brown rice, boiled
  • 1 large green cabbage
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • ¼ cup peas, steamed
  • ¼ cup carrots, diced
  • ¼ cups mushrooms, chopped
  • ¼ cup spring onions, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • ¼ cup of cooked chickpeas, pureed
  • ½ tsp ground cumin
  • ¼ tsp turmeric powder
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
