Use cream, not moisturizer
According to Dr Daniel Sister, one of the best cosmetologists in London, moisturizers are really bad for your skin.

The skin gets tricked by the constant application, and stops producing its own moisture. Moisturizers don’t penetrate below the skin and eventually make the skin quite dry. Stop using moisturizers and stick to creams. Your skin will feel dry for quite sometime, but it’s worth it. The cycle takes six weeks and you will have naturally moist skin. Always make sure you apply your sunscreen or cream all the way down to your chest.

Watch out for the sun
The best way to prevent your skin from aging is to protect it from the sun. While shopping for products, make sure you choose products with SPF 25 or more. Use this every day, even if you’re just sitting at home. Normal light at home could also cause damage.

Give your make up a makeover
Give yourself a make-up makeover. If you’re using the same colours and products for the past 10 years, chances are, you need a huge change. Switch to creamy base products in the winter to prevent your skin from becoming dry. Alternately, use a lighter cream based product in summer (water-based products sometimes may not serve their purpose, unless you have really oily skin) to stop the skin from becoming oily. Keep changing your products as your skin texture and type keeps changing every few months. Avoid using a harsh lip or eye liner as it can add 10 years to your face instantly.

The lip fix
Avoid coral or brown-based lipstick shades as they can make your teeth look yellow. Instead, brighten your smile with pinks, reds and burgundy shades.

Keep those eyebrows in shape
Keep those eyebrows shaped at all times as they keep your eyes looking open and bright. Go to an eyebrow specialist to get the best shape. Make sure you apply cream or rose water to close and calm the pores after threading, waxing or plucking your eyebrows. To reduce the pain while threading, ask your beautician to use a numbing agent, wet the thread and make sure it’s thin. For some people taking an allegra before reduces the pain drastically.

Cut back on the booze
Cut down your alcohol as it dehydrates your skin, interferes with blood circulation and contributes to broken veins. If possible, limit yourself to one or two glasses of wine daily. Wine is not the least fattening drink but in terms of dehydration, is a better option than the others.

Banish red or yellow eye
To make your eyes look bright and white, use light eye shadows. The colours acceptable are shades of lilac to pale pinks. Sometimes, a black eye shadow can open the eyes and make them look brighter.

Beat the double chin
If you sleep with just one pillow, rather than two to four, it can actually help you avoid a double chin. Smile real big and lift your neck towards the ceiling, hold it for 30 seconds and repeat. Another good variation could be to look up to the ceiling and open and close your jaw. Do this for 5 minutes every day and just see the difference.

Don’t skip the skin care routine
No matter how much you spend on skincare remember to cleanse, tone and hydrate your skin with a cream every night to keep your complexion healthy, supple and glowing. Sleeping without taking off your make up completely will make your skin look dull, grey and much older.

After cleansing, remove your cleanser with a warm flannel or muslin cloth. This helps to gently rub away patches of flaky skin and make your skin glow like never before.
