Tension-type Headache

 

Tension-type headache causes pain in the neck, eyes or head of a person. It can be episodic or chronic.

Causes

  • Stress
  • Lack of sleep
  • Bad posture
  • Staying hungry
  • Straining the eyes
  • Hormonal changes
  • Certain medications

Symptoms

  • Mild to moderate pain on both sides of the head
  • Difficulty in sleeping
  • Weakness
  • Irritability
  • Tenderness on scalp, neck and shoulders

Treatment

Mild headaches can get cured on their own by making certain lifestyle changes. Pain relieving medication can also be taken to reduce severe headaches.

Prevention

  • Adequate sleep
  • Regular and healthy meals
  • Regular exercise
  • Correct posture
  • Avoid straining the eyes
  • Avoid stress
