Pyloric Stenosis

 

Pyloric stenosis is a condition affecting the gastrointestinal tract of infants causing forceful vomiting.

Causes

  • Narrowing of the pylorus due to enlarged muscles

Symptoms

  • Vomiting that worsens with time
  • Poor feeding
  • Poor weight gain
  • Persistent hunger
  • Few or no stools
  • Dehydration
  • Lethargy

Treatment

  • IV fluids to cure dehydration
  • Surgery to release the obstruction

Prevention
There is no known way to prevent this condition.
