Ptosis is a condition causing abnormal drooping of the upper eyelid.

Causes

  • Weakness of muscles that support the eyelid
  • Damaged nerves
  • Loose skin of the upper eyelid
  • Aging
  • Certain conditions like diabetes, stroke, tumors, etc.
  • Injury
  • Congenital defect

Symptoms

  • Drooping eyelid
  • Eye strain
  • Headache
  • Vision problems
  • Tearing

Prevention
There is no prevention for ptosis.
