Pemphigus is an autoimmune disorder causing blisters on the skin or mucous membranes.
Symptoms vary according to the type of pemphigus and may include:
- Painful blisters in the mouth or mucous membranes of the genitals
- Itchy and crusty blisters on the scalp, face, and upper body
- Painful sores on the lips, mouth, and esophagus
- Skin lesions
- Breathing problems
There is no cure for this disease but it can be controlled by:
- Intravenous fluids and electrolytes
There is no prevention for pemphigus.
