Myopia or nearsightedness is a defect of the eye causing distant objects to appear blurred.
Causes
- Longer than normal eyeball
- More than normal curvature of the cornea
Symptoms
- Blurred distance vision
- Squinting when focusing on distant objects
Treatment
- Eyeglasses
- Contact lenses
- Orthokeratology to flatten the cornea with help of rigid contact lenses
- Refractive surgery like LASIK, PRK, etc.
Prevention
There is no way to prevent myopia.
