Meningitis is inflammation of meninges which are the protective membranes covering the brain and spinal cord.

Symptoms
- Headache
- Neck stiffness
- Fever
- Rashes
- Nausea or vomiting
- Sensitivity to light
- Sensitivity to loud noises
- Confusion
- Irritability
- Drowsiness
Treatment
Treatment should begin at the earliest and includes:
- Antibiotics for bacterial meningitis
- Rest and plenty of fluids for viral meningitis
- Pain killers
- Corticosteroids to reduce pressure in the brain
