Hemophilia

 

Hemophilia is a group of inherited disorders preventing the blood from clotting normally.

Causes

  • Missing or low levels of clotting factors in blood

Symptoms

  • Frequent bruising
  • Excessive or prolonged bleeding
  • Blood in urine or hematuria
  • Pain and swelling in joints

Treatment
There is no cure for hemophilia but it can be managed efficiently by:

  • Desmopressin hormone injections
  • Replacement therapy to replace the missing clotting factor

Prevention
There is no way to prevent hemophilia.
