Gestational diabetes is a kind of diabetes that develops during pregnancy and usually goes away after child birth.

- Hormones produced during pregnancy
Symptoms
There are no symptoms in most cases but if present they may include:
- Increased thirst
- Increased urination
- Bladder infections
- Yeast infections
- Fatigue
Treatment
- Planned meals as per each patient’s requirements
- Regular exercise within safe levels
- Medications in cases where diet and exercise do not help
Prevention
Not much can be done to prevent gestational diabetes although risk may be reduced by:
- Maintaining a healthy weight
- Eating a balanced diet
- Regular physical activity
