Bradycardia is a condition when the heart beats lesser than 60 times a minute.

Causes

• Aging
• Certain heart ailments like coronary artery disease
• Certain diseases such as hypothyroidism
• Certain medications for heart and blood pressure problems
• Congenital heart defects
• Drug abuse

Symptoms

• Dizziness
• Fatigue
• Chest pain or palpitations
• Shortness of breath
• Low blood pressure

Treatment
Usually no treatment is required for asymptomatic bradycardia. In other cases it includes:

• Treatment of the underlying cause of bradycardia
• Change in medications causing bradycardia
• Implanting pacemaker
